Boris Johnson’s first year in office has been marked by an accelerating shift from the liberal image he used in his election campaign to the reality of his Thatcherite ideology. This comes when the global financial crash has destroyed any remaining credibility of that approach in virtually every country in the world.
 
Johnson has begun an economic, social and cultural regression of the city.
 
London is not just any British city. It one of the largest and fastest growing major cities in Europe, one of a handful of pivotal cities in the globalised economy and by far the most important contributor to the economy of Britain as a whole. London's prosperity depends upon sustaining its international role and sustaining infrastructure, public services and cutting-edge policies which underpin it.
